Reporting to the Senior Product Manager, eCommerce, the Website UI/UX Designer shape Pet Valu’s Devoted Pet Lovers’ (the DPL = our customer) online experience by designing mobile first, intuitive website experiences. Working cross functionally with the web experience team, the product management team, marketing, brand and creative teams, the Web UI/UX Designer will gain a thorough understanding of the Pet Valu DPL and translate those journeys into a seamless online experience. This role is a hybrid-office role. Most of your time will be remote, requiring occasional office attendance for specific business meetings or workshops.
The Website UI/UX Designer will:
- Create wireframes, design mock ups and other prototypes as required by above mentioned business stakeholders
- Design with a mobile first (responsive) experience in mind
- You will be asked to work on experiences that cross all Pet Valu’s digital properties, including but not limited to petvalu.ca
- Work closely with marketing to uphold corporate branding, style guides and ongoing visual refreshes and updates in conjunction with marketing campaign focus
- Maintain compliance with relevant laws (e.g., copyright and data protection and AODA compliance)
- Liaise with the product management team, content writers and the marketing team to ensure timely execution of planned initiatives or time-sensitive ad hoc updates
- Ensure all work considers SEO implications
- Be the subject matter expert for and keep up to date on industry best UI/UX practices
- Liaise with other web professionals, including developers, customer experience (CX) experts, and product and project managers as required
- Facilitate sessions to gain insight into Pet Valu’s unique offering and receive feedback on proposed designs

Qualifications:
- 2 years+ experience in a web UI/UX design role
- Preference given to ecommerce design experience
- Post-secondary education in Graphic Design/Marketing or related digital experience
- Strong understanding of digital concepts (e.g. user interfaces, databases, data feeds)
- Strong presentation skills
- Preference given to those with prior knowledge of Figma, Asana and JIRA applications
