JOB DESCRIPTION

Join BYU-Pathway Worldwide as it improves lives throughout the world by providing increased access to higher education that is completely online and affordable. This is an amazing opportunity to contribute to one of the most unique and fastest-growing organizations in the Church.  

As a web content intern, you are willing to help ensure that the BYU-Pathway and EnglishConnect websites are accessible, usable, and accurate. The successful candidate will support the web content and communications manager in researching website trends as well as gathering, writing, editing, organizing, and posting web content in the form of text, photos, and videos. The internship is specifically designed for candidates with a strong interest in improving user experience in web content creation and/or communications.

(Preferred) Online portfolio that demonstrates academic or professional experience with writing web copy, setting up websites, including blog articles, landing pages, full websites, marketing emails, etc.  

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Under the direction of the web content and communications manager, work to update and add content to websites, investigate and identify errors, and build new web pages
  • Utilize strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills to write and refresh content on multiple websites
  • Work with other professionals such as the communications team, web developers, and operation managers to draft, review, and publish new web pages
  • Learn and maintain brand and website standards

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum qualifications:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Desire to learn basic web trends and best practices, including Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
  • Consistent demonstration of professionalism, responsibility, and initiative
  • Ability to complete tasks under deadlines while managing multiple projects
  • Motivated, creative, detail-oriented, adaptable, and dependable
  • Team player who also excels as an individual contributor
  • Experience with Wordpress, Brightspot, and/or another content management system

Preferred qualifications:

  • Basic understanding of visual/user-centered web design
  • Search engine optimization
  • Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and/or Javascript
  • Students with a focus in Communications, Web Design, Digital Media, or Marketing

This is a paid hybrid-remote internship, partially at the Triad Center in Salt Lake City, UT. Fully virtual internships are available upon request (candidates must live in Utah or Idaho).
