Visual Experience Design Intern- Summer 2023

Local Projects is seeking a Visual Experience Design Intern with strong 2D design and some experience, if only in the classroom. As a member of the Visual Experience Department, designers are responsible for developing and executing impactful design solutions for a diverse range of interdisciplinary projects. Any experience in motion graphics, Interaction Design, and environmental graphics is helpful.The Visual Experience Design intern will work closely with Local Projects teams to achieve specific graphic elements for our projects. Our past work includes projects for the National 9/11 Memorial Museum, SFMOMA, the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, Greenwood Rising, and Planet Word, as well as a variety of corporate sector clients.Please Note:

• Applicants must be able to work on-site in our NYC Studio as needed (hybrid)
• Applicants must be eligible to work in the US

Requirements

• A design degree (graphic, interaction, communication, media design, or a related field)
• Excellent design skills exhibited in an impactful portfolio
• An interest in developing unprecedented solutions that actively engage audiences
• A demonstrated knowledge of typography, layout and color sense
• The ability to think conceptually and express ideas visually, verbally, and in writing
• A passion for typography
• A solid understanding or demonstrable interest in user experience and interaction design
• Interest in designing for physical spaces and/or interactive media
• Strong technical and organizational skills
• Ambitious attitude and a strong point of view
• An empathetic nature with an open, positive mindset
• The ability to collaborate in teams, work autonomously, and to take direction from project leads
• An awareness of contemporary trends in technology, art, and design
• Solid knowledge of the latest design tool including Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator
  
  

Responsibilities

• Develop an understanding of the Local Project’s ambition, process, and culture
• Be a proactive member of the Visual Experience Department
• Design, iterate, and execute across a variety of interdisciplinary projects and media
• Create smart, sophisticated, and impactful visuals
• Communicate concepts
• Ensure integrity of visual direction when translated to linear media, interactive media, and physical environments
• Coordinate with project team members
• Provide appropriate time estimates and expectations for yourself
• Meet deadlines and expectations established by project leads
  
  

Pay: $15 / hr
