Position Summary
This is an on-site position located in Ottawa.
Thales is looking for a UX Design intern, who will join the team that designed the world’s first Key Management and Encryption marketplace. You will design physical and virtual cloud products together with customers. You will attend ideation sessions and design sprints. You will create complex prototypes and iteratively nurture ideas to solutions. You will contribute to the evolution of UX at Thales across the world, contributing to a collaboration of a transversal design and user experience initiative across a wide portfolio of products. The ideal candidate will be excited about designing together with the user and enjoy the challenge of participating in the design lifecycle of a wide variety of products on a global market scale.
K e y Areas of Responsibility
As part of the UX Design Team, you will support:
- Design solutions to complex problems that advance company initiatives
- Make fundamental decisions on the design of a product using information gathered through research and business requirements
- Improve the UX of multiple products by owning projects from start to finish
- Present concepts and prototypes to stakeholders while understanding the principles behind each design
- Work closely with UX researcher on an ongoing basis to monitor client metrics and update feature designs accordingly
- Create customer journey and service blueprint diagrams that combine and balance business goals with UX
- Create sketches, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes for product features
- Work together with engineering, and product management to iterate on designs
- Attend workshops, design sprints, design studios with Thales stakeholders and customers
- Collaborate with teams and stakeholders in other product lines to ensure consistent design
- Build designs using a Low Code No Code platform and meet with engineering for integration
- Understand our products and features and advocate for best solutions
- Work as a part of an Agile team to incrementally deliver value for the users of our products
Minimum Requirements
- Being enrolled in Industrial Design, Product Design, UX, Visual Design, Interaction Design, Human Interface Technologies, User Experience and Customer-Centered Design program in accredited university or college and currently studying in at least your second year of your undergraduate program.
- Involved in design projects specifically electronic systems, mechanical systems & Software build
- High level oral and written communication skills required for report writing and design justification documentation
- Breadth of working experience in all major product design areas:
- Usability research
- Ideation workshops
- Solution design
- Prototyping
- Rapid prototyping
- UX testing
- Front-end development experience is an asset
- Industrial Design experience is an asset
- Proficient in industry leading design tools such as: Axure, Figma, Sketch, Miro, InVision, Adobe XD, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Balsamiq
- Build Customer Journey Maps
- Experience in providing design direction using user centered principles
Preferred Qualifications
- Have an understanding of front-end development coding languages including HTML, CCC, and JavaScript frameworks
- Be able to make informed decisions and iterate quickly to deliver continuously improved UX
- Have an understand and working knowledge of Low Code No Code platforms
- Have an understanding of working in an Agile development environment. Experience in SAFe is an asset
- Building Service Blue Prints is an asset
