UX/UI Design Intern

What You Will Do

A SPARK Design Intern works hand-in-hand with the design, development, project management and operations teams to level up both internal and external client projects while learning the ins and outs of the business.

This role is the perfect next step in your design career. You’ll have the opportunity to grow skills you learned in school and apply them to real-life project work in a modern agency setting. Skills you’ll utilize and potentially gain include: UX/UI design, wireframing, UX research, discovery workshops, prototyping, project management, presenting work, client communication, and internal operations. Your contributions on projects will directly impact clients and the internal team.

You’re not expected to spearhead the coffee runs, but if you are ever in the office you’re welcome to come along (we thrive on caffeine). This isn’t that type of internship. Instead, we’ll work with you to make sure your internship is tailored to your needs and goals from the very beginning.

This is a hybrid position, some office days (in Grand Rapids or Kalamazoo, MI) will be requested to collaborate with our design team.

Some travel is occasionally required to meet with clients and project teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Embrace and deliver our BOLT Core Values to each other and our clients
• Collaborate with the lead designer and other internal team members including project managers and developers.
• Meet with clients and present design workflows.
• Assist in discovery workshops and project documentation.
• Create low and high fidelity designs.

What You Need

• Pursuing a degree or certificate in a design related field.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to “go above and beyond”; bringing a passionate and positive approach to delivering results and encouraging teamwork.

NICE TO HAVE

• Experience with various design, project management, and operation tools (Figma, Canva, Google Suite).
• Knowledge and/or experience in our main markets (construction, manufacturing, technology, and start ups).
• Desire to continually learn and take on new challenges.

SALARY RANGE

$20.00 - $25.00 per hour
