What You’ll Get to Do:

As a motivated Designer on this growing program comprised of multiple agile development teams, you will work together with end users, stakeholders, and your teammates in a fast-paced environment creating mission critical software applications. You will facilitate user engagements to ensure the team builds the right product to make the users efficient and effective in the execution of their mission. You’ll find yourself challenged to discover the next need and will work with each of your teammates (engineers, developers, product managers) to craft elegant solutions to complex problems.

Each day, you can expect to report a brief status at an agile “stand up” meeting, dig into the highest priority work to accomplish that day, create living documentation as-needed, participate in TEMs, and assist with feature testing. This position offers the unique opportunity to join the team at the start of a major new project, providing the chance to guide the program through the full product lifecycle with frequent deliveries to the customer.

Candidates are expected to have excellent UX/UI Design expertise, to be highly self-directed and motivated, and to collaborate respectfully with their teammates, always keeping mission first. You will be part of a responsive team where communication skills and the ability to solve problems are critical to success. You can expect to work with highly motivated teammates. As a designer, you will:

Conduct research: Support the product through it's lifecycle by performing exploratory and evaluative research

Generate solution ideas: Use research to inform solutions possibilities in a lean manner, starting with something simple and building on it to address user needs. These may be sketches, wireframes, mockups, prototypes, design guides and product.

Collaborate with the team: Work closely with the Team Lead, and your other teammates to organize ideas, data, and solutions into actionable tickets to better the product. Collaboration opportunities include meetings, pairing sessions, and organic opportunities to engage with your team

Seek feedback: Leverage the variety of business, subject matter, and technical expertise on your team to create the best product for the end user

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Typically requires bachelor's degree or equivalent and 3+ years of related experience.
  • Must possess knowledge of and experience in User-Centered Design processes and User Experience principles
  • Must have experience in working with a large development team
  • Must exhibit good time management skills and independent decision making capability
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and sound problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work with the other members of the cross-functional team to support overall program goals
  • Enthusiastic & energetic performer able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, & high visibility environment
  • Self-motivated and capable of performing tasks with minimal oversight
  • Team player incorporating a team based success philosophy
  • Able to define requirements and develop and maintain living documentation
  • Active TS/SCI with CI Poly

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Atlassian Suite products (Confluence, Jira)
  • Experience with configuration management processes and tools
  • Agile Experience
  • CSS experience or developer experience

Pay Range: The proposed salary range for this position is $71,300-$146,200. There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, geographic location, education, and certifications.
