UX Research Intern (Masters)

The Opportunity

This is a 12-week internship starting in May or June 2024 depending on your availability. Nutanix offers both remote and hybrid internships where you would work from the  San Jose, CA office 2-3 days/week. Submit your application by October 6, 2023.

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Masters student to join our UX Research team as an intern. As a UX Research Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of user experience research, working alongside experienced researchers and designers on real-world projects. This internship is designed to provide valuable learning experiences for individuals interested in pursuing a career in UX research.

What You’ll Do

• Assist in planning, conducting, and analyzing user research studies, including usability testing, surveys, and interviews.
• Collaborate with the UX research team to identify research goals, objectives, and methodologies
• Collect and organize data from research activities.
• Create visualizations and reports to communicate research findings.
• Provide input on potential design improvements based on usability findings.
• Conduct heuristic evaluations of interfaces and identify enhancement opportunities for usability, accessibility, etc.

What You’ll Bring

• You are pursuing a Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field.
• Strong interest in user experience research and human-centered design
• Basic knowledge of research methodologies and data analysis techniques
• Familiarity with UX research tools such as usability testing software and survey platforms
• Proficiency in using software tools like Microsoft Office, Google Docs, or equivalent
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

The Process

• Online Technical Assessment: We review your foundational skills.

• Baseline coding skills assessment in the language of your choice

• First Round: Interview with one of our Talent Advisors to dive into your unique experiences and motivators.  
• Second Round: Technical interviews with our hiring teams to showcase your skills.  Tuesday, October 24, 2023  

• Students who advance to this round, will receive preparation and details on any pre-assignments to complete prior to October 24.
• Students attending the second round should expect multiple interviews with Nutanix engineers designed to assess your technical skills and role readiness, motivation for the opportunity at Nutanix, and when required, a pre-assignment aligned to the role you’ll be playing on our team. Each meeting will offer you an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the team you’ll potentially work with.

• Final Decision: Offers extended! Finalists can expect offers by mid-November.

*The pay range for this position at the commencement of employment is expected to be between $49-$53/hour; however, base pay may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may or may not include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
