Hinge is seeking a curious and creative User Experience (UX) Researcher Intern for Summer 2023. This is a paid 12 week full-time internship program that would be a great fit for anyone interested in pursuing a career in UX research. Through this internship, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with the methodologies, approaches, and applications of product UX research.

You will lead research projects on the Core Experience and Hinge Labs teams, with the support and mentorship of a primary research mentor on each team. This internship offers additional opportunities for both personal and professional development, including participation in journal clubs, workshops and tutorials for learning UX tools.

Research at Hinge is part of the Product team; you will join a close-knit group of researchers that work closely with Design, Product Managers, Data Science, Business Intelligence, Community, and Engineering to share research findings. You will be empowered and supported in leading 2 research projects across the summer. This work will help us understand how our core experience can work better for users and how we can provide more personalized support to get more users out on good dates. You will gain experience collaborating with cross-functional teams like designers and product managers, developing a research plan, executing and sharing research.

Working here, your research will have tangible impacts for our users in helping them find meaningful connections on Hinge and move off the app.

  • Build empathy and advocate for the user experience through research share-outs across Hinge teams

About You:

  • Resourceful, collaborative, and adaptive
  • Passionate and curious about how user research can be leveraged to improve how users find and maintain romantic connections
  • Motivated to gain experience employing mixed methods research including quantitative (e.g., survey, experimental) and qualitative (e.g., interviews, usability testing) methods
  • Enthusiastic about creative and effective ways to share and communicate research insights to different audiences
  • You do not need UX research nor product experience to apply. Desire to solve complex problems, and motivation to grow is what we are looking for

Our Company:

Hinge is the dating app designed to be deleted. In today’s digital world, singles are so focused on sending likes and looking through profiles that they’re not actually building meaningful connections and finding relationships. Hinge is on a mission to change that by designing the most effective app experience. On Hinge, there are no rules, timers, or games. Instead, you’ll have unique conversations over the text, photos, and audio you’ve shared on your profile. And it’s resonating with daters. Currently we’re setting up a date every three seconds.

Our Culture:

  • Authenticity: Share your genuine thoughts and opinions directly.
  • Courage: Invite and deeply consider challenges and criticism.
  • Empathy: Be empathetic, communitarian and trustworthy.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
