UX RESEARCH & DESIGN INTERN

As an UX Research & Design Intern, you will work collaboratively and independently with both student interns and design professionals who are responsible for the design of marine engines, boats, controls, and user interface systems for the recreational boating industry. You will become an integral member of the design team committed to delivering superior results. You'll learn how to work with professional designers from across the different divisions of Brunswick, as you own and manage assigned projects from inception to completion.

TIMING

This position is for a Spring-Summer internship at Brunswick’s i-Jet Lab in Research Park at UIUC:

• Part-time internship during Spring 2024, a minimum of 8 in-person hours and a maximum of 20 hours per week
• Full-time internship during Summer 2024, 40 hours per week with a potential part-time extension into the following year (8 in-person minimum/20 maximum)

AS THE UX RESEARCH & DESIGN INTERN, YOU WILL:

• Collaborate with full times and design interns to research and understand problem spaces, and ideate, prototype, and test solutions, and present findings.
• Lead user testing sessions for prototypes developed in the lab, document findings and present the analysis to inform the larger team
• Support activities to teach design thinking to students
• Research and map customer journeys for insight on improving customer experiences.

QUALIFICATIONS OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE:

• Current enrollment in a BS/MS program with a major in Industrial Design, UX or similar
• If on student visa, must be able to obtain CPT work authorization.
• Excellent ability to communicate design intentions through variety of mediums – traditional or digital sketching, mockups, storyboards, or graphics.
• Passionate about design with the ability to present effectively and to provide clear, insightful, and actionable design critiques
• A clear understanding of the design thinking and the design thinking process.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Figma, and Miro. Proficiency in other related creative tools is a plus.
