Position OverviewThe UX Intern will join Navistar's UX Design Ops team.   They will primarily be focused on developing standard-reusable design thinking practices, workshops, artifacts, and templates to standardize how Navistar does UX research strategy and design validation in the digital space within and around an agile workflow. The UX Intern will test and refine template prototypes and drafts by supporting UX practitioners across the enterprise to research and validate their work.


At the end of this internship, the UX Intern will be able to point to a library of templates, artifacts, and SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) workshops they participated in establishing, a map of where/when they happen in our agile process and real products their work helped define and validate.


Candidates are expected to demonstrate experience with the design thinking process and confidence speaking up to inspire action on cross-functional teams. Applicants should be open to new experiences and ways of working. Comfort with ambiguity & challenging norms is also important.

Responsibilities

The intern may work on one or more of the following:

  • Develop standard re-usable innovation practices and artifact templates.
  • Participate in planning and running Navistar’s annual Innovation week.
  • Research for digital, (UX) operations approaches
  • Establish self-sustaining group empathy experiences that help Navistar employees relate to customer’s realities.
  • Facilitate and participate in data gathering events, rapid prototyping, customer interviews, customer immersion & iterative cycles
  • Create and present showcases to executive leadership.

Minimum Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B or F-1 status)

Desired Skills

  • At least Sophomore standing for undergrad at the time of application
  • Able to work at least 12 weeks (starting the end of May or early June through August)
  • Engaged in a Design Thinking, UX / Research, or Service Design program.
  • UX Research & Strategy experience.
  • Competency using Figma, Mural, designing in-person workshops.
  • Competency designing and conducting usability validation testing
  • Previous applicable experiences
