Continuous Inject Printer (CIJ) - Archimedes
I. Project Background & Overview
Videojet design, manufactures and sells marking and coding equipment into a variety of applications, with a particular focus on consumer-packaged goods packaging facilities. Beverage, including bottled water, canned beer, cartons of milk and everything in between, is Videojet’s largest end-user, well-defined segment.
The Product Experience Design (PXD) team at Videojet is new. The PXD team originated because of customers selecting competitor solutions based on their ease of use and therefore results in superior uptime for our customers. Customers ideally want fully automated systems, with zero interaction from operators to install, set-up and maintain the equipment. Until this is achieved, there is a level of operator interaction that needs to accounted for. We need to ensure we design product experiences (Hardware and Software) that delight our customers and prevent Use Errors.
With the above in mind, we have embarked on a new project to look at how we can improve the experience as it pertains to our next CIJ printer offering.
Objectives
1. The main objective of this product is to ensure our new CIJ offering is safe, effective, and delightful for our customers to install, set-up and use.
Activities Include:
1. Assist with benchmarking activities. Providing a gap analysis and heuristic analysis of Videojet’s existing system and those of our competitors.
2. Assist with mining, analyzing, and synthesizing existing data sources (VRS, Tableau, website chat, Phone support logs, service visits etc) to gain further insight into User Needs.
i. In addition to above, understand how we might be able to utilize various data sources in future NPD’s and standardize the process.
3. Assist with the definition of the project’s Epic’s and User Stories that feed into the Marketing Requirements Document (MRD)
4. Design and optimize concept workflows, wireframes, low-high resolution prototypes (Figma) to effectively answer the User Stories
5. Assist with the identification of potential customer recruitment targets for formative studies.
6. Assist with the planning (Study Protocols, discussion guides), set-up (Study stimulus), execution and report out of internal and external formative studies.
7. Help iterate designs based on learnings received.
