UX Designer
Wavetronix has an immediate opening for a UX designer. Web development experience is a plus. We're looking for a motivated and ambitious UX designer who loves product development and can perform research to understand customer needs. This UX professional will be a vital member of our team and will be working with our major product lines. This person will assist in performing customers research, creating and testing prototypes for applications which are critical to modern vehicular traffic. They will need to communicate customer needs to engineers and stakeholders while willing to accept feedback to execute designs within a set of defined constraints. The designer will work closely with software engineers and stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle from concept to maintenance of existing features. The ideal candidate is self-motivated. They take pride in doing their best work, learning new skills, and helping the team to excel.
The UX Design candidate will have the ability and desire to complete the following goals.
First 30 days:
- Spend time with multiple teams to learn about Wavetronix and our competitors.
- Work with Product Managers, other software teams and fellow team members to develop an understanding of existing products, tools, and product vision.
- Review and collaborate with UX team on existing Projects.
First 90 days:
- Assist UX team in brainstorming and storyboarding solutions for current projects.
- Use Figma to create prototypes for upcoming projects and features.
- Attend on site installations of our products to better understand how they are used.
- Complete certified training of all our products.
- Understand and apply our current design system.
First Year:
- Based on user feedback propose improvements of existing design system and usability of our products.
- Understand our niche in the market and how we differentiate from competitors.
- Build trust with the software development teams and stakeholders to help them find solutions to complex user interactions.
- Lead internal and external Usability testing efforts.
- Drive UX team meetings, present prototypes and concepts to stakeholders.
UX/UI Designer Job Description
- Leverage a human-centered design process to deliver an easy-to-use user interface and user experience for customers
- Research customers, competitors and products
- Develop user personas, scenarios and user stories
- Work with stakeholders to identify design requirements
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mock-ups using Figma
- Develop and implement usability testing
- Work with developers to ensure product quality
- Work closely with product managers and marketing to maximize customer/user success
- Ensure products are tested with customers and validated against business goals
- Quickly learn current product lifecycles and development stages
- Using user feedback to identify areas for improvement
- Learn and follow the design systems already in place
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in interaction design, web development, human-computer interaction, or a related field
- Working knowledge of UX design principles, tools, and current trends
Desired Qualifications
- Experience building prototypes in a tool like Figma
- Graphic design tools such as Photoshop and/or Illustrator
- Experience with user testing and usability analysis
- Ability to work with and understand the customer's goal
- Rapid prototyping with paper/analog tools
- Ability to work with a development team to bring the ideas into reality
- Work as a team to identify the best solutions for customers
- Experience in creating design systems and following/establishing patterns
- Experience in information architecture a plus
