We’re recruiting for a UX Designer to join our product team here at Lawlabs Inc., a London-based start up servicing real estate legal professionals. In this role, you will work cross-functionally with UX colleagues, developers, subject matter experts and users as we continue to develop Closer, a new software platform we've built to transform how clerks, lawyers and their clients close real estate transactions in Canada.
You’re a great fit for this role if you are passionate about human-centred design and love putting a stamp of flare into your work. You also have a keen attention to detail and believe that iterating on your designs based on user insights is the key to success! You are very confident with design, wireframing and prototyping tools, have no problem showing off your portfolio of work, and you can demonstrate success with the latest user interview and usability testing techniques. Lastly, you’re comfortable working autonomously for stretches of time but also thrive in a collaborative setting working directly with colleagues and end users.
The LawLabs Team:
Privately operated and founded in London, Ontario, our team consists of a diverse, passionate group of tech experts who are on a mission to change the real estate closing experience for lawyers, clerks and clients alike and also have some fun along the way! We are a remote-first, distributed team, and we leverage tools like Slack, Figma, Miro and G-Suite to create a modern, asynchronous and flexible work environment to stay connected.

- Communicating design principles and direction, as well as design specifications to engineers and other company stakeholders.
- Assisting with the execution of a variety of user research methods that will enable our team to understand customer pain points and behaviours.

- Assisting with the evolution of our existing design system to ensure a rich, consistent user experience across our entire product.
- Researching competing/adjacent solutions to gain an understanding of the problem space and inform superior designs.
- Conducting usability tests with lawyers, clerks and their clients based on designs created by our product team and leading subsequent iteration processes.
- Critiquing wireframes and prototypes along with using user insights to offer alternative ideas.
- Identifying, articulating and prioritizing potential usability issues.
Requirements:
- Bachelor/Master of Science in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Cognitive Psychology, Cognitive Science or a related field.
- Prior work on B2B SaaS / web-based software products is an asset.

- Proven experience with interaction design principles, tools and techniques.
- Proficiency in user interface design, motion graphics, digital art, a sensitivity to typography, colour, layout, and a general awareness of materials/textures.
