Within Fifth Third, our Design team is tasked with building digital experiences that better our customers’ lives, allowing them to access their banking needs easily, and to meet their individual financial goals. The Design team works with a variety of stakeholders internally including but not limited to: Product, Decision Sciences, Customer Experience (CX,) Strategy, Marketing, and others. This team leverages various partnerships and cross functional skill sets to allow Fifth Third Bank to get the job done for our customers.  

Our internship is a 10-week summer program crafted for rising juniors and rising seniors majoring in Graphic Design, Human Centered Design or a related field. Interns will be matched to a 10-week project based on their skills combined with the Marketing business need. The project will have a drive toward customer experience initiatives and customer centricity.

What will you learn?

Our UX Design Internship is crafted to accelerate emerging development of high potential college graduates to prepare them for upwardly mobile careers within Design at Fifth Third Bank. The internship is managed by our Design directors with oversight by the CMO and company Marketing Leadership Team.

What will you do?

• Leverage user experience best practices, processes, and strategies.
• Develop & hone skills in applying the Design Thinking framework to solve real-life customer problems.
• Gain hands-on experience by participating in user research, design sprints and other sessions.
• Learn how to bring together both business and creative by interfacing with multiple internal stakeholders, as outlined above, to facilitate and advocate for user experience.
• Produce a project/deliverable for the Design team and its stakeholders by way of a final presentation that will require demonstration of abilities in user research and validation testing. This will include a design critique, to explore findings, iterations, and solutions.

Location:

As a national organization, we have many sites located across the country. This Design Internship will be hosted in person, at Fifth Third Bank’s headquarters located in Cincinnati, OH. Relocation assistance is provided for candidates residing 50+ miles from the site.

How will you get here?

• Undergraduate student completing a bachelor’s degree between December 2023 and June 2024 majoring in Human Centered Design, Graphic Design, Marketing, or a related field with relevant coursework
• 0+ Years of work experience, including prior design internship and/or work experience
• Provide a portfolio or work samples to showcase UX or visual design projects.
• Experience using the Adobe Creative Suite, as well as Sketch and Figma (or other similar tools)
• The right candidate is curious, collaborative
• Results oriented through initiative, ownership, and accountability
• Proven success bridging gaps between technology and design
• This internship will be in person, you are required to relocate to the Cincinnati area if you are not local to this area. Relocation assistance is provided for this role
