Job Title: UX and Human Factors Co-Op

Department: Engineering

Reports to: Core Products Manager

Workforce Type: Temporary non-exempt, on-site

Job Summary:

The UX and Human Factors Co-Op will work as a part of the Core Products team within the Engineering department to assist both the Interaction Designer in UX research and design, as well as assist a variety of engineering and operations teams with the creation of unique augmented reality experiences in an industrial setting.

The Core Products team is dedicated to providing a learning-based environment for Co-Ops and Interns that encourages individuals to explore and specialize in areas that are of interest in accordance with their future career goals while also adding business value towards our company’s higher-level objectives. Students that do not yet meet all of the below qualifications or may be interested in only a subset of the responsibilities are encouraged to apply anyway.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with others to create unique augmented reality experiences using our proprietary LightGuide industrial augmented reality software platform applied to a wide variety of real-world applications.
  • Develop and administer surveys to collect user feedback.
  • Conduct user research and usability testing to understand user needs and preferences.
  • Analyze data from user research and usability testing to identify design opportunities and improvement areas.
  • Develop and design prototypes, mock-ups, and wireframes for software applications and augmented reality experiences.
  • Apply industry-standard production process improvement methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean, Kaizen, etc) to industrial augmented reality work instruction design.
  • Visit customer sites in a factory environment to conduct user research as mentioned above.
  • Assist with miscellaneous office duties as required.
  • Continuously improve and optimize all processes related to the above work.

Education and Experience:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in one of the following disciplines:
  • Computer Science
  • Computer Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • User Experience Design (or related)
  • All school levels welcome to apply
  • 2+ years’ experience in any professional or service job preferred
  • 1+ years’ experience in customer-facing roles preferred
