Internship Learning Outcomes
As a User Experience Intern you will be a part of our growing Design and UX team within the Masonite Innovation Center. The focus will be on the creation of customer-centric experiences through research driven insights and design thinking methodologies. This role will participate with design and cross-functional teams to support both innovation and development programs.
In addition, you will be participating in a program that encompasses:
- Approximately eleven-week summer assignment at Masonite’s corporate headquarters in Tampa, Florida
- Development of personal and professional skills through training, networking, and mentoring relationships
- Interactions with senior leaders during intern activities such as lunch-and-learn events and leadership dialogues
- The opportunity to build teamwork skills through interaction with other interns and colleagues
Leadership Relationships
- This role will report to the Director, Industrial Design.
Responsibilities And Accountabilities
- Support UX programs including front-end innovation sessions and development programs
- Translate requirements into storyboards, user flows, wireframes, and visual design mockups to effectively conceptualize and communicate detailed interaction behaviors.
- Participate in project meetings and support program deliverables
- Participate in user research, usability tests and other evaluation activities.
- Help the team interpret and understand user feedback and provide recommendations to design decisions based on that feedback.
- Contribute to requirements and design documents.
Minimum Qualifications And Experience Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a university as a rising Junior or Grad student
- Major: Design, Human-Centered Interaction, Psychology, or other design related
- GPA: 3.3 minimum
- Experience working in a collaborative team environment to deliver high-quality design solutions
- Creative materials demonstrating past work experience and deliverables (e.g., study plans, reports, portfolio)
- Knowledge of user-centered design, UX methods, UI/UX design, or human subjects research & experimental design
- Experience with visual design and collaboration tools such Adobe Suite, Miro
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Good reasoning skills and the ability to back up your recommendations
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite and other business applications
- Strong Interpersonal Communication Skills
