Cox Automotive is in search of a User Experience Designer-I for a "hybrid" position that would require you to work on-site at our office on Long Island, NY approx. once a week. This will be a full-time employee position with a competitive base salary, bonus, and complete benefits package.The selected candidate will work collaboratively with UX, product management, and implementation teams to design the next generation of desktop websites and apps for our leading automotive brands. This individual draws from a deep understanding of design systems, UI standards and human-centered design best practices to create amazing user experiences our consumers have come to expect. This designer will work directly with teams building products to authenticate consumers across our experiences, personalize those experiences, and provide a comprehensive set of corresponding marketing analytics to help our clients better meet consumer demand. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with other team members to solve complex user and business problems and can easily adapt and grow within a fast-paced, collaborative environment.Key Roles & Responsibilities :

  • Create user-centered designs by synthesizing market analysis, customer feedback, user research and technical constraints
  • Participate in regular design reviews and be ready to clearly rationalize and justify design choices
  • Create UX deliverables such as user personas and journey maps, process flows, wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes
  • Extend and apply the design system by working with existing templates, icon libraries, reusable app components, style guides, and brand standards
  • Work in a scaled Agile environment, obtaining buy-in and providing design communication and assets to a product team of developers, product managers, and team leads
  • Develop and maintain detailed user interface specifications, working closely with developers to see designs through to deployment, including participation in user acceptance testing
  • Keep abreast of the latest UX design and technology trends
  • Estimate effort, plan schedules and manage time effectively
  • Understand technical, business, and time limitations, and design within these constraints

Required Skills & Relevant Experience :

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field such as HCI, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, or Computer Science plus 0-2+ years of relevant work experience;
  • In lieu of a degree, qualified candidates would require 4+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Experience creating scalable, dynamic, web-based software design solutions for large-scale platforms
  • Experience using modern design and prototyping tools, Sketch is preferred
  • Experience designing dashboards, analytics, or other data visualizations a plus
  • Deep understanding of, and experience with, the full UX design process, including information architecture, user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity mockups
  • Demonstrated understanding of human interface guidelines, current possibilities and limitations of hardware and operating systems, and basic design requirements (e.g., icon and artwork sizes, screen resolutions, etc.)
  • Flexibility and openness to feedback from cross-functional team members
  • Strong prioritization, planning and time management skills
  • Ability to balance multiple projects or tasks effectively without close supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and follow through
  • Experience with Agile methodology
  • Strong portfolio of UX design work showing examples of web and/or native mobile apps
  • Preferred experience would include previous experience conducting user research, facilitating discovery sessions, etc.
