User Experience (UX) Designer (18mth Contract), Global Business Payments - Toronto, ON


The User Experience designer champions the UX strategy and implementation throughout the product lifecycle. Working closely with the business and development teams, they design solutions that capture requirements and project vision aligning with industry best practices.


Is this role right for you?


  • Liaise with key stakeholders to advocate for design best practices and champion a human-centric methodology
  • Work closely with Product Managers and subject matter experts to gather business requirements and success metrics
  • Has an astute eye for pixel perfect detail and an appreciation for clean, simple designs. Follows design system standards and specifications, while also working to co-create new components and patterns as required
  • Collaborate with other UX designers to develop planning materials such as personas, empathy maps, user flows, customer journeys, and user stories
  • Plan, conduct, or participate in discovery and ideation activities which will identify users needs and best-in-class experiences by way of brainstorming workshops, whiteboarding sessions, usability testing sessions, surveys, user interviews, etc
  • Gather, analyze, and synthesize user analytics and feedback to inform well thought out UX decisions and recommendations
  • Translate business requirements and user needs into design deliverables such as sketches, wireframes, and mockups in addition to developing prototypes and design specifications that clearly illustrate how experiences should function and look like
  • An astute eye for pixel perfect detail and an appreciation for clean, simple designs. Follows design system standards and specifications, while also working to co-create new components and patterns as required
  • Ensure all experiences are user friendly, inclusive, and fully accessibility compliant as per WCAG 2.0 & 2.1 AA guidelines
  • Communicate effectively with development team(s) throughout a project’s lifecycle in an agile environment
  • Present screen designs, user flows, interaction models, and end-to-end experiences to cross-functional teams and key stakeholders
  • Continually learn and grow your skills by understanding the user experience landscape and keeping up to date with the latest interaction trends and practices


Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

We'd love to work with you if you have:


  • BA, BS or MS in Interaction design, Human Computer Interaction or equivalent qualification
  • Fluency in best practices for web-based information architecture and design, as well as strong knowledge of usability principles and techniques
  • Strong portfolio clearly identifying contributions to projects.
  • Expert in a number of creative and collaboration tools such as Figma, Sketch, Axure, Omnigraffle, Adobe Creative Suite, and Mural.
  • Familiar with what is possible across platform and devices both in technical and experience terms according to best practices and device guidelines
  • Must be highly motivated and enjoy working in a fluid and collaborative environment with fast approaching release dates
