As a User Experience (UX) Architect, you will provide technical expertise to analyze, design, implement, test, deploy and sustain user experiences for technologically advanced digital products and services. You will be an expert in collecting and synthesizing multiple data sets to accurately advocate and design digital solutions for users. Primary duties include:

  • Apply UX strategies such as user investigation, information architecture, usability, and accessibility.
  • Facilitate client consultations such as goal-oriented group meetings and collaborative exercises.
  • Select the UX methods which:
  • focus on effective outcomes that address business and end-user needs, and
  • consider impacts on project complexity, timelines and costs.
  • Design user interfaces to support overall UX goals and outcomes.
  • Help to mature user experience practices within digital services at the City of Calgary.
  • Work with clients and project partners to fully understand their desired outcomes and then define project goals and key performance indicators (KPI).
  • Identify and include user groups that need to be considered as part of the solution.
  • Synthesize research and data into useful insights that can be used in determining solutions (i.e. business needs, user needs, website analytics, performance metrics).
  • Generate multiple user experience solutions to a problem that align with provided strategies, project goals, user needs and outcomes.
  • Conduct usability testing on digital solutions, including test preparation, scheduling, and reporting.
  • Oversee implementation of user experience concepts with client, content, and development teams.
  • Contribute to the growth of the UX practice and advancing UX maturity in the organization.

Qualifications

  • A completed 2 year diploma and at least 6 years of related experience; OR
  • A degree and at least 4 years of related experience.
  • Formal education in human-computer interaction, user-centered design, visual design, cognitive psychology, human factors, industrial design or a related field is required.
  • Applicants must have demonstrated experience creating website/application experiences, understanding how to apply methodologies of interaction design and user investigation to business problems, interdisciplinary team leadership or other related areas.

Position Type: 1 Permanent & 2 Temporary (up to 23 months)

Location: 201 8 Avenue SE



Compensation: Pay Grade 9 $37.79 - 50.55 per hour

Days of Work: This position works a 5 day

work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.



Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
