POSITION SUMMARY

As a professional level member of the Product Experience team with global corporate level responsibilities, the User Experience Researcher I will be accountable for clearly indicating what constitutes a positive user experience of new and existing products. Achieving this responsibility using research and data analysis tools to:

  • Lead User Experience Reviews for new product development
  • Provide assessments and fact-based guidance during new product development
  • Understand positive and negative drivers of ratings/reviews of current and competitive products
  • Design and execute custom research and provide clear and actionable insights

Responsibilities

POSITION PROFILE

  • Key contributor in Global Product Development Process by providing key deliverables to the Technical Team Leader (TTL), Marketing and Program Management.

  • Drivers of competitive product ratings/reviews
  • Opportunities to improve current product already on the market
  • Consumer Journey Mapping to understand strengths and weaknesses from user experience perspective
  • Utilize design guidelines and standards to increase development speed and ensure optimal user experience
  • User Experience (UX) reviews of sub systems, prototypes and engineering build units
  • Usability study reports, including suggestions for how to improve product experience
  • Post launch analysis to identify short and long term opportunities for improvement
  • Provides data and insights to inform key decisions about product innovation and portfolio prioritization
  • Provides regular interdepartmental oral presentations
  • Participates in product design reviews and provides perspective on user experience
  • Ensures appropriate testing has been completed to assess the design
  • Ensures the project is ready to move into the next development phase.
  • Manages product databases by:
  • Ensuring input data is accurate
  • Performing trend analysis
  • Initiating actions for product improvements
  • Maintaining new and existing products (ours and competitors)

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

  • Degree minimum: Bachelors Degree
  • Specific concentration: Engineering, Design, Research or Cognitive Psychology
  • Experience level: 0-2 years in User Experience Research

SPECIALIZED TRAINING/EDUCATION PREFERRED

  • Usability or User Experience (UX) Certification preferred
  • Proactive rather than reactive problem solution philosophy
  • Good, self-motivated project management and time management skills
  • Human Centered Design experience preferred
  • Experience working in IoT/App development preferred

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Excellent verbal & written communications skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated data analysis capability
  • Ability to keep perspective and understand what is best for the team/project
  • Willing and able to travel to domestic and international locations
  • Physical Requirements:
  • The ability to occasionally lift to 50 pounds onto a counter
  • The ability to use powered and hand tools to disassemble/reassemble a product
  • The ability to distinguish subtle color variations (good color acuity)
