Introduction
The UX Architect will be part of the User Experience function. Our mission is to deliver a world class customer experience through digital products, particularly the mobile apps. We support one another in our craft by sharing tools, resources, learnings and best practices with our fellow UXers to improve the function’s effectiveness as a whole.
We're looking for a User Experience Architect with a confident and critical design sense, a solid grounding in user-centred design and a strong interest in current affairs. You should be a good problem-solver who can make complex ideas simple and articulate solutions clearly. You will be working in a cross-functional team that is responsible for The Economist mobile apps (iOS, Android, HTML5). The position will report to the Senior User Experience Designer for The Economist Digital.
Accountabilities
In the role you would be expected to:
- Design wireframes, create interactive prototypes, create detailed UX specification documents, sketch solutions, create site maps/process flows/user journeys/personas
- Undertake user research and articulate findings clearly and accurately
- Co-facilitate workshops
- Support senior team members to deliver high quality deliverables
- Work with Visual Designers and Developers to deliver the end solutions
- Quality assure all work undertaken
- Support product owners by leading discovery phase of product development
- Research methodologies, best practices, tools and technologies relevant to improving UX process
- Ensure design standards are maintained and continuously endorsed
Experience, skills and professional attributes
To succeed in the role you must have:
- Practical experience of designing digital products
- Software skills to produce wireframes, visual design comps, specifications and annotations (Omnigraffle, Visio, Axure, Photoshop, Sketch)
- Strong oral, written and visual presentation skills
- The ability to work under direction as well as self-direction
- Excellent relationship building skills
- Rapid prototyping skills
- Background in User Experience/ User Centered Design/ Service Design

- A portfolio that shows your design process
Experience in publishing- Data visualisation experience
- Front end development skills (js, css, html) (A plus)
