DESCRIPTION

Verily’s internship is a paid 13 week program for rising seniors, either undergraduate or graduate students, who are interested in working at the intersection of technology, data science and healthcare. The program is designed for Computer Science and Data Science students, and again this year we encourage students who have been historically underrepresented in this field to explore the program, which is a pathway towards full-time employment within Verily. This includes but is not limited to: women, Black/African-American, Latine/Hispanic, Native American, people with disabilities, veterans, and members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Our team combines expertise in healthcare, data science and technology to improve the health and well-being of our communities. We are developing the infrastructure and solutions to harness the profusion of health information for good.

We’re hiring a User Experience Accessibility intern to help the Accessibility Team scale accessibility best practices across the product org. As a UX Accessibility intern, you will get to work with an extraordinary group of talented, energetic and innovative people who care deeply about health equity. You will contribute directly to growing a program that will empower our product teams to design and build healthcare products that work for and represent everyone.

**Join us for a unique 13 week internship that will take place May 15th to August 11th 2023 OR June 19th to September 15th 2023.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct user research to explore, uncover and analyze trends in product inclusion and accessibility.
  • Refine and define design framework, guidelines, checklists to incorporate accessibility and inclusion best practices.
  • Curate existing content & conduct research to determine gap and outcome of current education program.

At the end of your internship, you will have a readout with the Design Senior Leadership Team and a chance to impact how Verily teams work toward accessibility and equity.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in university as a Masters full-time student in UX/UI Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, Information Science, Data Science, or another related field with an anticipated graduation date on or before the end of 2024.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Passion for diversity, accessibility and inclusion.
  • Previous internship experience working in a product development environment.
  • Research skills, including literature review, expert interviews, synthesis/analysis, and communicating research insights.  
  • Experience with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) or Accessibility best practices is a bonus.

The US base pay range for this intern position is $45.67-$55.77. Our pay ranges are determined by role, education level, experience, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay ranges for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
