Salary Expectation: $60,000-70,000/year, sign-on bonus, equity, and company benefits. This is a fast-paced role at a growing company with advancement opportunities. If you are not energized and hungry to be in this type of environment, this role is not a fit for you.
About Wellspring Care
Our mission is to redefine care for the most vulnerable. The healthcare system is failing the underserved. It's a struggle to find care, to afford care, and to receive quality care.
We are a startup that is well-funded by world-class investors and phenomenal digital health leaders of this decade. We are led by a founder who grew up on Medicaid (public insurance) and personally knows the desperation of not being able to afford medically-necessary care.
Here, we believe that anything can be achieved through pure will, determination, and grit. We value operators with a similar mindset.
The Role
We're looking for a passionate and empathetic full-time UX/UI designer to help us build elegant and user-friendly products to help us redefine care for the most vulnerable.
You'll work across the entire design stack and:
- Flex your design skills and create elegant and intuitive designs to solve users' problems.
- Design prototypes and high-fidelity mocks for complex and multi-layered user interfaces.
- Regularly conduct user research and feedback sessions with our users to iterate on prototypes and inform design decisions.
- Be a champion of design thinking and help encourage and inspire creativity to create a culture of feedback around our organization.
This role is a good fit for you if you thrive in a dynamic startup environment and enjoy the challenge to execute quickly against deadlines to get products to market.
Our Value Prop to You
- Environment for growth and learning. You will have the opportunity to drive great impact and gain exposure to all functions of the company. Here, you can flex multiple realms of your technical skillset and creativity.
- Propel innovation in healthcare. We are leading the change in healthcare against traditional players with outdated systems. You'll be able to operate in a fast-paced environment to ship and iterate.
- An energizing, compassionate team. Our team cares deeply about each other. We strive to elevate and uplift each other in our day-to-day work to do the best for our families. We don't believe in bureaucratic nonsense.
- Supporting your wellbeing. We provide benefits to allow you to do your best work:
- Competitive medical, vision, dental, 401K, and life insurance.
- Remote and in-person hybrid work options. You pick what suits you.
- Stipend to upgrade your work-from-home setup. Is it time for a new keyboard or desk chair?
- Unlimited paid-time-off (PTO), 10 paid holidays, and parental leave. We want you to rest as hard as you work.
- Paid company off-sites, meetups, and team bonding events. You'll get to see everyone outside of their Zoom box.
The Requirements
We index more on your hustle and ability than what shiny college institution or experiences you have under your belt.
- You have a high-quality bar, attention to detail, and experience delivering high-quality polished experiences with design tools and systems such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.
- You thrive on user feedback and are always sketching, showing work in progress, validating with users/customers, iterating, shipping, and learning to create user-centric designs.
- You have exceptional collaboration skills - you can demonstrate the ability to work with multiple teams and partners, solicit and summarize feedback, and facilitate design discussions.
- You have done something most people haven't. From ex-Juilliard musicians to international-ranked champions, anyone with an untraditional background is welcome.
- Empathy, an entrepreneurial spirit, intellectual horsepower, and unbounded curiosity.
We'd love to hear from you if:
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English
- You have experience designing healthcare products or working in a healthcare-related field
- You have a strong understanding of accessibility practices (WCAG, WAI)
- You have experience designing across different mobile, tablet, and desktop
- You have previous experience at a startup
Who We're Looking For
This role would be a fit for you if you have the following:
- Love for your craft.
- You view design as more than just creating visually appealing designs– you view it as building novel solutions to critical problems in a user's experience. You approach challenges with fresh eyes and from multiple perspectives. You find diamonds in the details and are highly motivated by user-centric design.
- Team player and beginner's mindset.
- You thrive in a team and are curious about how product decisions impact other teams such as engineering, clinical, operations, etc., and vice versa. You are excited to be exposed to and have a say in multiple company functions. You have a low ego and are willing to learn. You are willing to admit mistakes and have an open mindset.
- Compassion for families.
- You are absolutely relentless about putting our families first. You truly view this as an opportunity to help the most vulnerable. You view user empathy as a part of your core skillset. You can make design decisions with our families in mind.
- Force of nature.
- You take extreme ownership. There are no tasks or problems that are beneath you - even the most unsexy or complex. You are able to drive critical goals under ambiguity and are able to focus on what matters most to execute fast and iterate toward the best outcome.
- You've done something most people haven't. Whether you've started a company, won a hackathon, qualified for the Olympics, and/or overcame difficult adversities, it is evident that you've demonstrated initiative throughout your career and life.
If you're passionate and excited about delivering life-changing care to families in need, working with a tight-knit team of builders, accelerating your career and growth, and making an impact on the next category-defining company, don't hesitate to apply.
