Your Opportunity

The landscape of student housing is changing, and Scion is at the forefront. With more customers finding our communities online, our UX/UI Designer will be integral in removing friction points along the web purchasing journey. The UX/UI Designer will support Scion’s property website development to ensure optimal content and functionality.


The UX/UI Designerr is tactical and calculated in their approach to evaluating user experience. Critical thinking and excellent communication skills will be key in a fast-paced, agile, corporate environment where crucial decisions must be executed in real-time. This role consists of managing multiple projects with goals and deadlines that are expected to be met in a timely and consistent manner.        

Your Responsibilities

Analysis

  • Analyze website user behavior using harvested data to determine if there are any inefficiencies that could be corrected.
  • Review Google Analytics data to help determine trends and insights based on website traffic.
  • Present findings with proposed solutions to help with website retention and transaction effectiveness.
  • Implement A/B tests to gather data and test features that will enhance digital presence both in form and function.

Implementation

  • Design, build, and maintain highly reusable JavaScript, HTML and CSS code.
  • Implement UI and UX strategies rooted in analysis and company objectives.
  • Use developer tools in Chrome to make quick adjustments for testing before updating on live site.
  • Look for opportunities to evolve imagery and content to better speak to Scion’s audience and execute copy and imagery changes to better engage site visitors and move them through the purchasing funnel.
  • Collaborate cross departmentally to ensure ongoing website function and content is correct.
  • Remain informed on Scion specific marketing tactics to ensure messaging communicates urgency with a “burning fuse” with strong CTAs.

Review & Assess

  • Review daily website performance reports and adjust website settings accordingly.
  • Understand the limitations of our tech stack and business model and provide technical advice wherever necessary.
  • Schedule and perform weekly audits to ensure 3rd party connections are working correctly.

What We Require

  • Career focus in advertising, website design, and ecommerce.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational and problem-solving skills, and strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of CSS, CSS extension languages (Less, Sass), PHP and CSS preprocessor tools.
  • Knowledge of HTML5, JavaScript and their best practices.
  • Intermediate understanding of Restful APIs.
  • Experience with content management system WordPress and Multisite Networks.

Operational Details

  • Job location is based in-office at Scion’s Chicago corporate headquarters.
  • Working hours consist of standard daytime business hours.
  • No travel required.
