POSITION

The UI/UX Designer is an entry level position that will help us optimize the user experience in our two instances of Salesforce. This person will lead discovery sessions with internal team members to surface challenges. Using iterative input from team members and UX best practices, this role will design updated Salesforce experiences. This position is ideal for someone with an educational background in UX looking for real world experience.

United Way of Salt Lake has in-house graphic designers and Salesforce administrators that will provide support.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Facilitate discovery sessions (in person and virtual) with internal team members
  • Document workflows and learnings from discovery sessions
  • Create user centered designs by considering team member feedback, best practices and technical limitations
  • Use the Salesforce Design framework (https://www.salesforce.com/design/) to mock up and propose design changes and gather feedback on proposed changes. Designs should be scalable, and ideally utilize existing branding standards developed by United Way of Salt Lake
  • Work with in-house Salesforce admin/developer to implement changes

WHAT WE’LL OFFER

  • $18 per hour
  • Part-time, approx. 20 hours a week (ends in Aug)
  • Flexibility in terms of when you work, as long as you maintain 15 hours a week and are available at times and days of the week when team members are available to meet

Requirements:

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Completion or near completion of a UX program
  • Understanding of User Experience Design and the Design Process
  • Experience using prototyping tools such as Visio, Avonni, Figma
  • Able to work 15-20 hours per week through August
  • Some experience with Salesforce is preferred
  • Good eye for aesthetics: layout, grid systems, color theory and typography
  • Passion for great design: know what works, what doesn't and why
  • Self-motivated, ability to work independently
  • Investigates, asks questions that get users talking about their needs, can find the things that are not being said.
  • Finds consensus. Almost all our team members use Salesforce, and they have different opinions about what is best
  • Adaptability/curiosity, will quickly dive into learning Salesforce design and understanding our users’ needs

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The team member is regularly required to communicate clearly, and exchange accurate information interpersonally or through communication devices. Must be able to learn new systems and procedures, prepare and analyze data and figures, constantly operate a computer and other standard office machinery. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 65% of the time. The position requires occasional movement on- and offsite to attend meetings and presentations. Must be able to move light items such as paper, laptops and presentation materials up to 15lbs.
