How you’ll make an impact:

We are pleased to offer a fall internship opportunity on our Design Systems team. As a Design Systems Intern, you will have the chance to develop your skills in design systems and contribute to the maintenance and evolution of our design systems across multiple products. You will work in close collaboration with our design system leads, designers and engineering teams. Your work will help to ensure quality, consistency, and usability across our products and experiences.

What you’ll do:

• Collaborate with the design systems team to support the development and documentation of design system components, patterns, and guidelines.
• Assist in the maintenance and updates of the design system library, ensuring accuracy and consistency in design assets.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to implement design system changes across various projects and platforms.
• Conduct design audits and evaluations to identify inconsistencies or gaps in the design system and propose solutions to improve usability and efficiency.
• Assist in creating and maintaining design system documentation, including style guides, component libraries, and usage guidelines.
• Collaborate with designers and developers to provide guidance and support in implementing and utilizing the design system effectively.
• Explore and contribute to the evolution of our design language and design system, striving for continuous improvement and innovation.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in design systems and share knowledge and insights with the design systems team.

What you’ll need:

• Internship is open to current students enrolled (those graduating by May 2025 are preferred) and recent graduates who graduated within the 12-month period prior to the start of the internship in a field such as Design, Interaction Design, User Experience (UX), or a related discipline.
• Knowledge of design principles: Familiarity with fundamental design principles such as typography, color theory, layout, and composition. Understanding how these principles apply to digital interfaces and design systems is beneficial.
• Proficiency in design tools: Experience using industry-standard design tools such as Figma Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar applications. The ability to create and manipulate design assets, components, and style guides within these tools is important.
• Understanding of design systems: Basic knowledge of design systems and their importance in creating consistent and scalable user experiences. Familiarity with design tokens, component libraries, and style guides is a plus.
• Attention to detail: Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for visual aesthetics. The ability to ensure consistency and accuracy in design assets and patterns within a design system.
• Collaboration and communication: Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including designers, developers, and product managers. Being able to articulate ideas, provide constructive feedback, and actively participate in team discussions is essential.
• Problem-solving skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify issues or gaps in a design system and propose effective solutions. Being able to think critically and creatively to address design challenges and improve the usability of the system.
• Adaptability and eagerness to learn: Willingness to learn and adapt to new tools, technologies, and design methodologies. Openness to receiving feedback, incorporating changes, and continuously growing and improving in the field of design systems.
• Portfolio: A portfolio showcasing previous design work, projects, or case studies that demonstrate an understanding of design principles, attention to detail, and an understanding of design systems is highly desirable.
• Must have legal right to work in the U.S.

At SiriusXM, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including your background and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. We expect the base salary for this position to be $43/hr and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives. We encourage all interested candidates to apply.
