Hi, I’m Julianna, and I am a Product Designer at Secret City. We’re looking for an ambitious, creative Product Design Intern to join our growing team for a summer internship. You’ll have the opportunity to work directly with our studio team on our upcoming experiences and productions, build your skills and experience, and leave a lasting impact.

As a Product Design Intern, we will count on you to actively contribute to our design process and help design world-class digital products for our clients. You will also support our Game Design and Production teams to uphold a stellar user-experience as we launch new and exciting immersive experiences.

Wondering what your time at Secret City might involve? Here are some responsibilities you’ll have:

• Collaborating with our Product Design team to create delightful digital and in-person experiences.
• Solving problems, conducting user research, creating design artefacts, and designing mobile and web interfaces.
• Creating design systems for our clients.
• Advocating for the end-user experience when presenting your work cross-functionally with developers, product leads, and our internal teams.
• Organising our digital and physical spaces, and helping to produce branded assets that help our team collaborate efficiently.

What you bring to the table:

• You have experience designing mobile and/or web applications for school, work, volunteering, or as a personal project.
• You understand the foundations: user-centred design methodologies, user research, composition and hierarchy, visual aesthetics, and prototyping.
• You’re familiar with Figma or other design software.
• You have a keen eye for detail and excellent organisation skills.
• You are a clear and effective verbal and written communicator.
• You have a positive attitude and a desire to grow and level up your craft.
• You get excited by immersive experiences, escape rooms, games, puzzles, and/or digital design.

To be qualified for this role

• You must be currently enrolled at a post-secondary institution with a focus on Interactive Design, Graphic Design, Computer Science, or another related field.
• You must be registered in a co-op program, internship program, or looking to gain experience that directly relates to your field of study.
• You have a portfolio you can share that highlights your interest and skills in product design.
• You must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or granted refugee status. This is because of funding requirements.* (see below for details)
