Product Design Intern

Are you passionate about solving problems? This is your opportunity to work hands-on throughout the summer and learn more about what it takes to run a successful design organization.

As a DesignOps intern, you will work on a variety of projects that will not only challenge your skills but will make a real impact on the research and design practice across the entire CXRD team. Using a design thinking approach, you will take on complex tasks and transform operational necessities into delightful employee experiences. You will work with designers, user researchers, and other product teams - with a variety of goals, from enabling efficient processes with workshops and tools, to communicating the value of design through internal and external communications, to building initiatives that connect and support team members across the globe. You will anticipate what our team members need, advocate for them and ensure the final product is how it should be.

The day-to-day:

• Communicate standards of practice, manage initiative schedules, design and lead team workshops
• Collaborate with our researchers and designers to uncover pain points and define opportunities to level up the team
• Embed with researchers and designers and support the product development process through hands-on creation of user flows, wireframes and prototypes

What you'll need:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or higher in UX/HCI, Design, or related fields
• A portfolio of your previous works
• Able to commit to a 10-12 week internship
• Demonstrate proficiency with design tools such as Figma, Adobe Suite, etc.

• Background in user-centered design principles preferred

Salary range: $19 - $54 / hourly : At Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience. Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Additional cash or stock incentives may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
