As a Product Design org, the goal is to provide as much support as we can to our customers when it comes to owning not just one but multiple vehicles. We’re based in Atlanta, GA but are open to remote workers.

We’re looking to provide an exciting & very collaborative environment for everyone to make changes to an outdated model of vehicle ownership. 📚 Duties & Responsibilities Overview


Carputty is seeking a Product Design Intern to apply what they have been learning to real-world product features. In this position you will participate in the following:

  • Pair up with other Product Design staff to research and design real-world projects using design thinking and user-centered design methodologies
  • You’ll learn more about using Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud, and other tools needed during the product design/development process.
  • Participate in peer reviews to both give and receive design feedback.
  • Work on the creation, evolution, and documentation of design system components
  • Practice the art of user-centered design through the development of user flows, wireframes, and prototypes
  • Take part in user research and synthesis
  • Manage project plans from ideation to delivery


This person should be driven, sharp, creative, analytical, with solid communication skills. Under the guidance of your design lead, this role will work cross functionally with product managers, engineers, and operations to create intuitive and engaging experiences to help our users achieve their goals.


📚 Knowledge Requirements


  • A clear understanding of industry standard design system frameworks like the Apple Human Interface Guidelines & Google’s Material Design guidelines.
  • Pursuing a career in Product Design
  • Strong understanding of user empathy and a natural interest in the “why” of all problems.
  • Knowledge of Figma application

  • Lifelong Learners (Constantly curious)
  • Creative, Curious, Exploration focused (Obsessed with the ideation & exploration phase)

Bonus Skills if you have them:

  • Bonus points for motion, iconography, UX system flows, modern UI visuals, prototyping skills, front end web development.
  • Have an undergraduate or graduate degree in Design (graduating in/after Dec 2023) - Not required
  • Self-taught designers are totally fine as long as the understanding of design principles, technical thinking, and clear knowledge of tools is there.


📚 Work Location & Schedule for work


The location of this position is flexible, but must be available to work in the Eastern Time (ET) zone. We proudly support a collaborative remote environment for our distributed teammates, while also using our Atlanta office as a resource. Locally based interns have an opportunity to work occasionally onsite if they so desire.

Your Schedule:

  • Monday - Friday
  • Full-Time (up to 40 hrs/week)
  • Anticipated start date of May 8, 2023 (flexible)
  • Anticipated end date of Jul 28, 2023 (flexible)

Compensation:

Carputty is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The target pay for this internship is $20/hr.

Compensation is only offered to interns that are not currently pursuing a college degree due to the flexible schedule needed while in school. We will offer course credit for your degree along with any type of referral based on performance.

Interview Process:

  • Hiring Manager Screening (up to 30 min)
  • Team Interview (45min)
