VirtualiSurg is a software design company specializing in medical and surgical training. It develops immersive simulators for use by operating room staff. It mobilizes different areas of expertise, including virtual reality, haptic technology and machine learning. VirtualiSurg’s team works in a multicultural, international and highly interdisciplinary environment and is looking to expand further.
We are looking for a Narrative and Interaction Designer that can effectively link gameplay with narrative and pedagogy in a wide variety of contexts, with a passion for healthcare and the medical field, and who is able to execute the project’s vision through great narrative design, impart knowledge effectively, and identify users' learning needs.
Missions:
- Translate medical procedures to narrative steps for a simulation, following a pedagogical approach
- Create detailed documentation of the game’s narrative systems both for Clients and developers
- Create summarized documentation on the specific client domain from the client documentation and information publicly available
- Translate concepts into flowcharts, wireframes, and mockups to support product definition and development.
- Contribute to the creative process and development of Storyboards during the Simulation Design phase.
- Balance narrative mechanics against gameplay mechanics ensuring clarity, purpose and meaning.
- Playtest and take playtest feedback to improve narrative and gameplay systems
- Optimize narrative features according to metrics and specific KPIs
- Work within a multidisciplinary team towards shared goals
- Estimate, prioritize and coordinate narrative design activities
- Coach teammates in narrative design tasks
- Communicate and cooperate with Customers and other Stakeholders
- Participate in different Design Department activities to collaborate and coordinate with fellow product designers
- Support the logistic of internal meetings and workshops related to design
- Assist the research of specific topics on different scientific domains related to our work: Pedagogical - Engineering, Serious Game Design, XR Interactive Design
- Assist the prototyping, testing and comparison of different interaction solutions
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of Game Theory and Game Design
- Skill managing tone and style for a consistent user experience
- Fluent English and good communication skills
- Ability to create engaging narratives that fit our client’s vision and provide solutions that match industry standards
- Experience working with Art and Programming departments
- Experience creating smooth narrative introductions for simulators and game tutorials
- Experience working on games from pre-production to release and LiveOps
- Shipped multiple game titles as Narrative, Interaction or Game Designer
- Passion for video games and software quality
- Proactive, enthusiastic, flexible, capable of working autonomously and energetic

- Basic scripting skills to adjust features created by developers
