We only hire people we can count on, so you can be certain that you are joining a team of happy and competent team members. Our solutions are globally recognized, and we have consecutively ranked as one of Canada's top ten best places to work for the last 12 years.

As an organization, Habanero is passionate about creating exceptional experiences for our clients and their employees, and we believe that the best solutions begin and end with people. This is where you come in.

In this role, you’ll be…

  • Part of an inclusive and diverse team of Habs, passionate about helping people and organizations thrive
  • Designing intuitive and engaging experiences, mostly digital but also cultural and physical with the support of our Creative Director, Kurtis
  • Supporting the facilitation and creation of empathetic ethnographic research
  • Supporting workshops through a design thinking lens and helping create relevant artifacts.

You’re right for this role if you...

  • Are enrolled in a relevant co-operative education program at a university or college
  • Have experience with Figma
  • Have a design portfolio that provides insight into your process
  • Understand and practice responsive design
  • Are passionate at putting people at the center of your process
  • Are interested in learning more about accessible and inclusive design, prototyping, content strategy, and information architecture

Bonus points if you…

  • Have completed courses in interaction design, information design, graphic design, information architecture or human centered design
  • Are nearing the completion of your program
  • Have some form of prior work experience in website development
  • Have skills with facilitation and collaboration tools such as Miro
  • Have basic knowledge of SharePoint and Microsoft 365
  • Take a human-centered design approach to solving problems and creating exceptional experiences
  • Are passionate about participating in internal design reviews and giving/receiving feedback
  • Have a natural tendency to solicit others for their ideas and opinions, and encourage people to share feedback
  • Have experience working in Agile and/or Scrum teams
  • Have experience with a continuous discovery approach to product development.

Our compensation package includes:

  • A technology allowance,
  • A wellness allowance,
  • Flexibility to work from home and the office, at times that work best for you and your team
  • Health and dental coverage, a health spending account
  • We also enjoy smaller perks like free snacks and drinks, a catered Thursday lunch where you can reconnect with your team. There are also training and development opportunities for those who wish to continue evolving their skills.

If you plan on working remotely or from home regularly, you have…
An appropriate remote work setup, such as a quiet space and a trusted and reliable internet connection
Access to internet speeds of at least 15 Mbps down and 5 Mbps up (having the ability to connect via Ethernet for troubleshooting is required)

If we reach out, please expect a thorough interview process including some meet and greets with Habs, a 2-hour core competency interview (it can be a little intense), and reference checks with past employers or other contacts (that you will need to help set up).

While we’d love to meet everyone who applies, we just don’t have the capacity to do that, so only those who are short-listed will be contacted.

At Habanero, we celebrate diversity and inclusivity, and are committed to creating and supporting equal employment opportunities regardless of race, ancestry, ethnic origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, marital status, family status, or disability. Accommodations are available upon request for candidates taking part in all steps of our hiring process.

Thanks for taking the time to apply!
