Job Summary

The Jr. UX/UI Design Internis an integral part of the Marketing team. This person should have a keen interest and experience in several (but not necessarily all) of the following: user experience (UX) strategy and design, user interface (UI) design, stakeholder and user research, information architecture, information visualization design, and user testing.

The ideal candidate will be versed in responsive web design, web accessibility, design, UX design thinking, ecommerce best practices and act as the voice of the customer with every pixel placed. While we don't expect this person to be an expert at coding, they should have the ability to construct prototypes that provide meaningful experiences for users, including branding, usability, function, and design. This person will ensure that the visual elements, transitions, and animation set the stage for a fluid, positive user experience.

Some key responsibilities include leading with a mobile first strategy, delivery of high-fidelity web designs, wireframe prototyping, design forward thinking, and lead presentations of designs to leadership.

Essential Functions

· Translate concepts into user flows, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experiences.

· Produce high-quality visual designs (including basic assets and wireframes/mockups)–from concept to execution, including those for desktop, web, and mobile devices at a variety of resolutions.

· Conceptualize original ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness to complex design roadblocks.

· Take a user-centered design approach and rapidly iterate designs.

· Design and implement mobile responsive design guidelines, user experience guidelines, digital style guides and visual standards.

· Make design decisions with data and coordinate with the team to create products for the organization, plan for future products, analyze existing designs, and track the performance of designed from beginning to end.

· Facilitate the company’s vision for products by researching best practices, performing competitor analysis, diving into consumer analytics, sketching, prototyping, and user-testing experiences for digital products.

· Conduct user research using qualitative and quantitative methods, such as interviews, personas, journey maps and AB tests.

· Analyze user feedback and activity, before and after product updates, to continually enhance the user experience.

· Identify design problems and devise effective solutions.

· Make strategic design and user-experience decisions related to current and new functions/features.

· Create custom, unique and user centered website mockups using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Experience Design.

· Work with the agile product owner to refine user stories.

· Collaborate with outside agencies as needed to deliver brand, accessible, web and mobile assets/mockups.

· Present and defend design deliverables and user experience decisions to peers and executive level stakeholders.

· Advocate for the Jogan Inc, digital experience across every digital channel though every pixel placed

Physical Demands

· Requires sitting for long periods of time. Some bending, lifting, stooping and stretching required. Requires range of hearing and eyesight. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to operate office equipment such as computer keyboard, photocopier, telephone and calculator.

Working Conditions

· Normal office environment. May require evening and/or weekend work. Working under stressful time deadlines.

Qualifications

· 1+ years of UI and/or UX design experience required

· 1+ years of Graphic design experience preferred

· Understanding of responsive, visual, and interactive mobile design required

· UX Research experience a plus

· Familiarity with HTML and CSS a plus

· Familiarity with and a passion for UI and UX design

· Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, XD, etc) with an emphasis in XD. Strong familiarity with similar programs like Figma, Asana, Miro and so forth acceptable.

· Superior time management, process management and communication skills.

· Ability to iterate designs and solutions efficiently and intelligently.

· Ability to communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions clearly and effectively to teams.

· Ability to work effectively in a team setting including synthesizing abstract ideas into concrete design implications.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

· Hungry for innovation, strives to stay up to date on relevant trending topics and changes to web and user experience.

· Ask smart questions, take risks, and champion innovative ideas.

· Experience in using UX design best practices to design solutions, and a deep understanding of mobile-first and responsive design.

· Be passionate about resolving user pain points through great design.

· Comfortable receiving feedback and quickly change course based on business needs.

· Team player who can work collaboratively with other departments, partners and marketers.

· Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· Must be self-motivated, self-starter, have a sense of urgency and extremely well-organized.

· Ability to work with minimum supervision in a collaborative team environment.

· Microsoft office product skills including Excel and PowerPoint

· Ability to meet deadlines while working in a fast-paced, changing environment.

· Must exercise sound business judgment and handle confidential information with sensitivity.

· Must be a team player with ability to work on several projects at a time.

· Be able to work in an Agile work environment.

Duration and Details[KM1][NH2]

The Jr. UX/UI Design Intern will work with us for 3 months and is subject to extension if need be. (if agreed upon by both parties)

Salary Range: $20hr

Hours: part-time hours 10hr-20hrs
