As a dynamic, fast-growing provider of workers' compensation insurance and services, EMPLOYERS® is seeking a creative and innovative intern ready to gain practical experience in applying human centered design processes and design thinking in the digital transformations of both our customer and workforce experiences.

We offer a positive, challenging remote work environment, combined with a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience that will support your career aspirations in human centered, product and UI/UX visual design. You will be working with other design professionals as well as professionals from across the business, product management, and engineering organizations.

Headquartered in Reno, Nevada, EMPLOYERS attributes its long-standing success to our most valuable resource, our employees. EMPLOYERS is known for the quality service and expertise we provide to our clients, and the exemplary work environment we provide for our employees.

We live and breathe our core values: Integrity, Customer Focus, Collaboration, Initiative, Accountability, Innovation, and Personal Fulfillment. These are the pillars that support how we do business with our clients, and how we treat each other.

At EMPLOYERS, you’ll discover an energetic environment that inspires top achievement. As “America’s small business insurance specialist”, we have the resources, a solid reputation and an expanding nationwide identity to enrich your work/life and enhance your skills and work experiences.

General Summary:

Then working with your design colleagues, you will co-develop working design proof of concepts in Figma and/or Zeplin and co-lead the experimentation, testing and refinement of the various options. Finally, you will work with both product and engineering in the storyboard mapping and eventual digital product and/or workflow process improvement plans and implementation. You will use all the knowledge you have gained in the academic environment and learn so much more in the practical application of this knowledge to solve real world customer challenges for a public company with hundreds of thousands of clients. It will be challenging! It will be fun!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Co-create (crawl, walk, run and fly) product plans and feature roadmaps and participate in engineering costing and Sprint planning.
  • Support education, training, and implementation of transformative business processes.
  • Establish key measures of success, KPI, and performance metrics.
  • Learn, gain valuable experience, and have fun!
