What you will do:

We all remember the moment we connected graphic design to a bigger purpose.  At a young age, things like movie title art, movie posters, and designs on movie websites were things that just existed magically. But when you realized that it was a particular craft to bring typography, images and layout together with interactivity to create these pieces of art, you fell in love.


In our day-to-day work, we believe that design is more than just pretty pictures and typefaces. It's a way of driving our purpose to help Canadians be inspired to seek out pleasure at some of Canada's premiere entertainment brands, including Cineplex Cinemas, The Rec Room, Playdium and more.  


As an Email Designer, you will be designing and coding assets for all Cineplex brand emails. You’re comfortable editing live code, you ensure your work is compatible with different email clients and browsers, designing and coding with a mobile-first approach, and always using the most efficient processes. You’ll work alongside the Sr. Designer and creative team helping with significant campaign work and creating unique and interactive banners and social media elements that convert and engage. Your work will help Cineplex stand out as a bold Canadian brand and be seen as a design champion & innovator. Oh, and this gig comes with free movies!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and code interactive and responsive emails for studios, campaigns and marketing activities for all our brands under the direction of a Sr. Designer
  • Set up and test email templates with dynamic content
  • Troubleshoot coding or technical issues that may arise.
  • Ensure rendering consistency of email campaigns in webmail and app-based email clients
  • Advise and consult on all things email and email best practices for any project
  • Ideates and creates unique and own-able social media and online banner ad units for all of our brands
  • Design and produce industry-leading creative solutions for assigned projects.
  • Craft website content, banner advertising, direct mail, flyers and email campaigns that connect, inspire and engage consumers.
  • Develop triggered, event-driven, personalized creative concepts relevant to our consumer's needs and expectations.
  • Prepare, upload, publish or deliver final files
  • Prepare images and assets for online and mobile use

Education & Certification

  • Post-secondary education with a focus on Design and New Media
  • Registered Graphic Designer Designation is an asset

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of email development
  • Experienced in hand-coding HTML5 and CSS
  • Keen eye for detail and troubleshooting errors
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Journey Optimizer, Salesforce and/or Mailchimp email services
  • Well-versed in the latest versions of Adobe Creative Suite
  • Strong visual design skills with an ability to execute under the direction of the Sr. Designer
  • Highly collaborative & able to thrive in pressure situations
  • You are a creative self-starter with strong organizational, time management and project management skills; able to manage multiple projects and meet all necessary deadlines.
