Thales provides world-leading Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) and interlocking for mass rail transit applications globally. The Centre of Competence for Urban Rail Signalling is located right before you at mid-town Toronto. As the largest office in Canada, we house a department for every step of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)! This includes Software, Hardware, Systems Design, Verification & Validation, Operations, etc. The supporting corporate shared services teams in Finance, Human Resources and IT is also located at the office. Work Term - May - December 2024

We are looking for a natural storyteller with an ability to assimilate processes and information, and present them in a clear, concise, and attractive way. If you are a strong communicator with creative design skills and keen attention to detail, we want to hear from you!

This internship will give a unique opportunity to have hands-on experience in developing visually appealing training materials. As an e-learning Designer Intern you will contribute developing engaging and interactive modular training courses, quizzes, and exercises to help employees of many different departments to learn and enhance their user-experience in a company-wide specialized software tool and new practices.

You need to understand the language of design and the user experience. Thinking in terms of UX/UI comes naturally to you. User-driven, leading with empathy and designing with purpose.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop interactive e-learning courses from end-to-end that are fun, engaging, and easy to understand.
  • Maintain a keen eye for detail to ensure accuracy, consistency, and a cohesive image throughout the course content.
  • Read and analyze technical materials to then help develop scripts, storyboards, and drawings for interactive modules, ensuring clear and concise communication of key concepts and procedures.
  • Design and develop visual aids and multi-media assets including image manipulation, animation, voiceover, audio, video to illustrate complex concepts and procedures effectively.
  • Incorporate multimedia elements, simulations, quizzes, and assessments to enhance learner engagement.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues related to e-learning content development.
  • Provide quality control of all written material produced for grammar, clarity, and audience.
  • Create, maintain, update and upload training materials and related content to Learning Management System (LMS).

Key Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program with a focus on Graphic Design, Marketing, Communications, Learning and Development or similar
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal, with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Strong computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Proficient in graphic design and Adobe tools. Adobe Captivate experience is a plus. Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Articulate Storyline and/or Camtasia experiences is a plus.
  • Knowledge of LMS systems, or importing, and exporting SCORM packages is a plus.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • A self-starter, with proven ability to initiate and prioritize projects and react to changing situations.
  • Must be good at time management with the ability to be onsite two days a week at our corporate office, to accommodate our hybrid-working model.
  • Available for May to December 2024 Internship.
