Digital Design Specialist
Overview
Reporting to the Manager, Digital Design, the Digital Design Specialist is responsible for creating engaging, accessible, and interactive learning objects and digital assets. This role collaborates with instructional designers, subject matter experts, and educators to design and develop multimedia content that enhances the learning experience and supports the achievement of course and program outcomes. The ideal candidate has a strong background in graphic design, multimedia development, and educational technology, with a passion for leveraging digital media to facilitate effective teaching and learning. Key Responsibilities
- Utilize graphic and multimedia design principles and tools to create digital assets, interactive learning objects, illustrations, and simulations that align with instructional goals and learning objectives.
- Create and edit multimedia assets, including images, audio, and video, to enhance instructional content, promote learner engagement, and support the achievement of outcomes.
- Ensure the accessibility and usability of digital content by following best practices and standards for web design, user experience (UX), and universal design for learning (UDL).
- Collaborate with eLearning to integrate multimedia content into learning management systems (LMS) and other educational technology platforms.
- Stay up to date with emerging trends and advancements in digital design, educational technology, and multimedia development, and incorporate innovative approaches into educational materials.
- Conduct quality assurance checks to ensure the accuracy, functionality, and visual appeal of digital content across various devices and platforms.
- Collaborate with Educational Technologists to develop training and resources on the effective use of digital resources and tools for instructional purposes.
- Track and report progress on Digital Design projects and proactively identify and communicate risks to the timely completion of these projects.
- Communicate regularly with manager, colleagues, and collaborators to promote transparency and collaboration.
- Collaborate on various additional projects with other teams within the Learning Design group or the broader Teaching & Learning portfolio.

Skills, Experience & Competencies
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in graphic design, multimedia design, educational technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in digital design, multimedia development, or a related role, preferably in an educational setting.
- Proficiency in graphic design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), as well as multimedia editing tools.
- Strong understanding of design principles, typography, color theory, and layout techniques.
- Experience creating and editing multimedia content, including images, audio, and video.
- Familiarity with eLearning authoring tools and learning management systems (LMS), such as Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, or Moodle.
- Deep knowledge of web design principles, user experience (UX) design, and accessibility standards.
- Excellent creativity and artistic skills, with a keen eye for detail and aesthetics.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
