Job Description

Design Intern

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated, and self-driven Designer to bring our brand and marketing campaigns to the next level. As a Design Intern, you’ll work with the marketing and communications team across all of our product areas and campaign initiatives, enabling you to take on a project from ideation through execution. You will have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to the visual identity and brand presentation at Tidepool.

Tidepool internships offer impactful, hands-on experience in a collaborative, creative environment where you work side-by-side with our team of innovators. You’ll develop creative concepts, design and produce cross-channel assets, and grow your technical skill set. This internship is a part of the 2023 Mozilla Data Futures Lab cohort and includes the design of a research report on the Tidepool Big Data Donation Project as a required deliverable for the grant program. This is a three-month internship. Because of the nature of this position we ask that candidates be located within the United States.

Responsibilities include:

  • Design and produce a summary report piece on the Tidepool Big Data Donation Project as a deliverable for the Mozilla Data Futures Lab cohort
  • Create layouts for user and clinician guides, brochures, impact reports, product catalogs, and other printed materials
  • Produce, edit, and curate video assets for promotional and product campaigns
  • Utilize creative briefs to develop and design email newsletters, marketing one-pagers, infographics, whitepapers, social media graphics, slide decks, retouch and manipulate images, and various other digital assets that communicate Tidepool's brand style in a creative way
  • Apply and advance established brand identity and related creative directions, ensuring consistency with brand positioning and marketing messages across multiple channels
  • Responsible for the creation of all digital assets for digital display advertising including banners and landing pages and all social media including Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter, etc
  • Manage version control and revision cycles for all assets

Qualifications

The ideal candidate:

  • A portfolio you can share and discuss that demonstrates your design practice and strong design background
  • Has fundamental understanding of typography, layouts, color usage, branding, photo styling and selection, and design style usage
  • Strong knowledge of the brand and creative processes and digital best practices in design and communication
  • Basic knowledge of prepress processes and print production
  • Experience with one or more of the following: videography, graphic design, instructional design, editorial print, product design
  • Solid, hands-on experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, After Effects, and Google suites
  • Extremely detail-oriented and well-organized
  • Enjoys a remote work environment of high transparency and radical candor
  • Bonus: Experience with HTML and CSS styling to leverage in email newsletter development
  • Bonus: Have a basic understanding of applicable laws and regulations within our industry, making sure that all assets follow applicable marketing guidelines to ensure compliance
