+ Position Overview
The Communications and Design Intern reports to the Head of Creative and is responsible for supporting the Design and Communication team. As the Communications and Design Intern, you will be responsible for supporting cross-company design, brand, and content projects across multiple platforms, including web, mobile, print, social media, marketing, and more. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who enjoys assisting in all aspects of design and communications.
+ Position Responsibilities
- Provide design assistance for physical and digital design needs such as presentations, digital and print marketing collateral, web content, business card orders, and others
- Assist with design asset organization and implementation
- Enforce brand guidelines and assist with coordinating brand assets such as logos and brand templates
- Assist with updating website content, including news articles, event pages, and website maintenance
- Assist with onsite event photography and multimedia asset management
- Assist with onsite events, media events, and other External Relations-related event activity
- Assist with email marketing administration tasks, newsletters, and campaign launches
- Assist with managing & tracking physical and digital collateral, including but not limited to flyers, digital signage, business cards, and facility signage
- Ad hoc duties as assigned
+ Position Requirements
- A portfolio will be required for application submission and review
- Major in Graphic Design or a related field
- Must be able to work up to 40 hours a week
- Current student or recent graduate of a Bachelor’s program at an accredited college or university preferred
- Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite - Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign is a must.
- Knowledgeable in visual design, web design, print standards, color theory, and typography.
- An extreme attention to detail and organizational skills
- Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook calendar management
- Self-motivated, ability to multi-task, problem-solving skills, initiative, drive, creativity, and flexibility are essential
- Excellent verbal, written, and face-to-face communication skills
- Desired experience with social media, email marketing, and other types of communications tactics
- Ability to be onsite on a as needed basis
- Ability and desire to work in a highly dynamic environment
- Comfortable with being in a government-funded public facing environment
