We are looking for an Associate User Expereince Designer to join our team. In this role you will design digital solutions that start with an understanding of customer needs, and result in a world-class user experience. Our software delivers information and insights that are mission-critical to our customers, and effective design is central to earning their trust. This role is part of a dynamic team of creative and strategic thinkers dedicated to understanding the needs of the user and delivering solutions that respond to those needs and become integral to customer success.


The role is responsible for the overall experience of a person using a product, process, environment, asset, website or system/application, especially in terms of how easy/pleasing/intuitive it is to use and its overall impression/perception. Defines solutions to improve the quality of user perceptions and interactions through the application of multiple fields, including design, e.g., visual, interaction, UI, environmental, industrial, etc., usability, human factors, information/data architecture, business analysis, process mapping, accessibility, research, analytics, testing and psychology. Conducts user research and testing, and develops wireframes and task flows basedon user needs.Collaborates with designers and developers to create intuitive, user-friendly web sites and apps.


Job responsibilities:

1.Has accountability for the performance and results within own discipline or function

2.Conducts user research and testing.

3.Develops wireframes and task flows based on user needs.

4.Creates documentations/reports to communicate findings to the overall organization

5.Designs effective and well-branded user experience throughout multiple online properties

6.Collaborateswith various teams to design end-to-end chain of services, systems and human interactions

7.Drives innovation across user-centered design practice

8.Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct, and follow all physical and digital security practices

What makes you a great fit::


Minimum knowledge preferred:

Generally two years or more of related experience or demonstrated competency

Capabilities and experience working with cross-functional peers. Team player.

Ability to conduct user research, e.g., ethnography and discovery —user goals, motivations, and work patterns

Ability to conduct user modelling, e.g., persona and scenario creation; role-playing

Ability to conduct wireframing and rapid prototyping

Ability to conduct process, task analysis and experience mapping, e.g., user experience flows

Ability to conduct information design and architecture projects and activities, e.g., component-level interaction principles and concepts

Ability to conduct interaction design and interface design projects and activities, e.g., function-level interaction principles and concepts, component-level interaction principles and concepts

Ability to conduct visual communication projects and activities

Ability to conduct user testing/validation projects and activities

Minimum abilities preferred:

Ability to visualize solutions, before one is built

Know how to design for accessibility, accommodating the needs of people with color-deficient vision and low vision

Ability to visually express hierarchy, grouping and workflows for applications

Ability to clearly express complex information

Technical writing, rhetoric and persuasive writing

  • Total Rewards: The salary range for this position is $55,000-$65,000 of the salary range and is based upon years of experience that is commensurate with the level of the position.

  • All employees at UL Solutions are eligible for annual bonus compensation. The target for this position is 5% of the base salary offered. Employees are eligible for health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental & financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country, for the relevant position level.

  • We also provide employees with paid time off including vacation (15 days), holiday including floating holidays (12 days) and sick time off (72 hours).
