Job Description:
HRU Technical Resources has partnered with a major defense contractor to place an Associate UI/UX Designer. In this role you will be responsible for working as part of the software team within engineering to evaluate, improve, and design new and existing human-machine interfaces and user experiences for complex military combat vehicle software based systems.
Essential Functions:
- Collaborate with a cross-functional team including developers, human factors engineers, product managers, marketing, and stakeholders to create intuitive next generation ground vehicle user experiences.
- Design and present prototypes, mock-ups, wireframes, and other design concepts to communicate designs to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Adhere to military and vehicle style standards on topography and graphic design, incorporating government and industry standards where relevant.
- Investigate or produce user experience design requirements or constraints and communicate them effectively to suppliers, reviewing and offering guidance on produced content to ensure it fits into our user experience ecosystem appropriately.
- Work with human factors engineering to ensure safety and conduct user research, user load, and other usability testing to identify design opportunities and improvement areas.
- Work closely with developers to ensure the successful implementation of designs and interactions.
- Work with marketing and the product team to verify branding and other appropriate iconography is in place.
- Provide advice and guidance on the implementation of UX research methodologies and testing activities in order to analyze and predict user behavior.
- Stay up to date on the latest trends, tools, and technologies in interaction design and user experience design in the industrial and vehicle spaces.
- Continuously improve and optimize all processes related to the above work.
Experience:
- Open to entry level candidates with relevant education / internship experience.
- We prefer candidates with 2 to 5+ years of UI/UX design experience.
- Ability to speak German is a big plus
- Experience with Qt Design Studio is desired (but not strictly required).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Educational working knowledge in the domain of UI/UX design and software development
- Ability to present technical solutions to clients and internal stakeholders
- Must be able to communicate effectively in a variety of settings, possess the ability to explain complex concepts in a way that makes sense and be able to assimilate complex instructions easily with all levels of management and staff to establish productive relationships
- Must demonstrate an enthusiasm to engage with and support colleagues to ensure all staff have the information and opportunity to perform to the best of their abilities
- Must promote collaboration and facilitate teamwork across the organization and its external service providers.
- Must be tactful, diplomatic, and work with integrity, honesty, and respect for others
- Must display exceptional listening and analytical skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required to work effectively with the US team, suppliers, customer, and corporate parent staff.
- High level of self-motivation and standards with the ability to multi-task; balancing "analysis" with "doing". Work on own initiative.
- Must be adaptable and able to prioritize and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
Education:
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (e.g. Electrical, Computer Science, Software, Systems, Aerospace, Automotive, etc)
Work Environment:
- 1st (day) shift position
- This will be a fully onsite role (no remote work).
- Candidates must undergo and meet company standards for background checks, employment verification, reference checks and controlled substance testing (drug screen).
