Snap-on Tools Inc. is looking for an Associate Product Designer to advance Dealer-FX, and technologies that enable automotive retailers to manage their service operations and provide their customers with a positive experience.

We’re looking for a customer-obsessed, and research driven individual who doesn’t mind jumping in and getting their hands dirty to help solve complex problems. You’re not afraid of ambiguity, and you welcome the challenge of being a part of a team that simplifies complexity for the cross-functional team.

You’ll navigate the interests of multiple stakeholders and teams across the company to deliver best-in-class solutions for desktop, tablet and mobile web-based applications to improve people’s lives. You have a balance of interaction design, visual design, and will be responsible for designing, prototyping, and implementing new features as well as future iterations.

You’ll play a valuable role in contributing to the progress of our design system, as well as being a stickler for design consistency, and creativity for our next-generation automotive productivity solution. You’re open-minded, a natural collaborator and look for opportunities to apply design thinking methodologies in your day-to-day work.

We’re looking for someone who can work independently to complete tasks. But can also work in a team environment to contribute to brainstorming, and solution discovery.

  • Improve the user experience. You’ll contribute to projects at varying points in the process
  • Deliver content maps, sketches, wireframes, low and high fidelity prototypes, create visual design concepts for brainstorming and approval in a timely manner
  • Propose and constantly look out for new concepts and ideas
  • Challenge the status quo, and push for better both with the design team, and cross-functional partners.
  • Stay current on emerging trends in online consumer behaviour, technologies and design
  • Ship valuable and high-quality work without sacrificing speed
  • Collaborate with multiple teams. Designing for cross-product, cross-platform foundational features, you will be leveraging and incorporating the domain expertise of teams focused on specific workflows

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year of experience in product design or User Experience (UX).
  • Able to implement visual design systems across platforms in an iterative software development environment.
  • Portfolio highlighting multiple projects and your direct contributions.
  • Technical proficiency in design and prototyping tools (i.e. Figma)

Preferred qualifications:

  • A capable storyteller
  • Strong visual design skills
  • Able to partner with Design Research to validate ideas.
  • Experience in type design, and type animation.
  • A basic understanding of existing technology and limitations
  • Passion for design and a pulse on emerging trends, products, and technology.
  • The knack to ask “why?”– you’re naturally curious, and you believe in purpose-driven decisions that are strategically informed to drive meaningful solutions to user problems and opportunities

What’s in it for You:

  • Vast opportunities for growth
  • Competitive compensation packages
  • A flexible work schedule for work-life balance
  • Comprehensive training and development support
  • Group health and dental benefits
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • 3 weeks of paid vacation
  • Company events and team building
