About the role

We are seeking an Associate Desiger, User Experience to join our New Orleans team. This indivisual will be responsible for designing the user experience and user interfaces for Leviton’s latest IoT, smart home, and building automation products. In this role you will lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of UI/UX for mobile and web apps across our multiple business units.

A successful candidate will have experience in understanding human interaction, user experience, user interfaces, and product development. This position will interact frequently with product managers, engineers, and customers to ensure adherence to user, product, and technical requirements.

You will see projects through the entire design process from outlining user personas and stories, to building user flows, to the final high-fidelity designs.

Responsibilities

  • Work with stakeholders to help gather and define UI/UX requirements and help contribute to the overall product strategy
  • Promote standard methodologies in design, usability, and accessibility within the design and engineering teams and across the company
  • Create design deliverables as needed throughout the product development cycle, including personas, user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes
  • Performs user research, usability testing, and contributes to the overall user research strategy
  • Will operate in an Agile development environment and deliver UX updates to project managers and engineers during daily status meetings
  • Perform regular evaluations and audits of apps and web apps for inconsistencies as well as suggestions for improvement
  • Deliver feedback and final approval of UI/UX elements implemented by developers
  • Pinpoint user pain points in apps and creates plans to alleviate problem areas
  • Stay up to date with UI/UX trends in the market, design styles, and emerging technologies
  • Other relevant duties as assigned

This position is required to be on-site in our New Orleans office 4 days a week, and 1 day work from home.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (XD, Photoshop, Illustrator, and In-Design), Figma, or other design tools
  • A working understanding of the software development process and full life cycle
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent teamwork, communication (verbal and written), and organizational skills with a keen focus to detail
  • Excellent documentation skills
  • Entrepreneurial spirit
  • Ability to lead the design of small projects

Education & Experience

  • BFA, BA, or BS degree in art, marketing, or design
  • 2 or more years of experience with a portfolio demonstrating effective user-centered design solutions
  • Experience developing user personas, user stories, and user flows
  • User-centered design methodologie experience
  • Experience designing and prototyping mobile and/or web applications
  • Agile Software Development Methodologie experience
  • Connected Home application experience is a plus

Travel

  • Up to 5% travel may be required
