DescriptionVerily’s internship is a paid 13 week program for rising seniors, either undergraduate or graduate students, who are interested in working at the intersection of technology, data science and healthcare. The program is designed for all students, and again this year we encourage students who have been historically underrepresented in this field to explore the program, which is a pathway towards full-time employment within Verily. This includes but is not limited to: Black/African-American, Latinx/Hispanic, Native American, students with disabilities, veterans, and non-binary people.
As a UX Product Accessibility + Inclusion Intern, you will lead a transformative project focused on establishing an Accessibility and Inclusion Champions Program. The goal of this program is to:
Cultivate a culture and practice of accessibility, belonging, and inclusion within our organization by identifying and supporting a group of “Champions” from functional groups across Verily;Improve Champions’ understanding of the standards and practices for design that improve accessibility, belonging, and inclusion through trainings, workshops, and other learning opportunities;Support the operationalization of 2-3 principles of inclusion, health equity, and accessibility into our design and development practices.Activities will include crafting education and outreach materials, partnering with the Accessibility team to provide training and learning opportunities, managing internal marketing campaigns, contributing to the development of an internal web resource, and supporting an evaluation of the program.This internship provides an exceptional opportunity to align your passion for UX and design with a larger mission of creating equitable and accessible health solutions. Join us for a unique 13 week internship that will take place May 13th to August 9th 2024 OR June 17th to September 13th 2024
ResponsibilitiesOutline the framework for the Champions Program, defining roles, responsibilities, and key deliverables to ensure a seamless integration within existing processes. Engage with cross-functional teammates to create a program that will work for Verily, its values, diverse perspectives, and current organizational priorities. Develop and execute an internal marketing campaign to promote the Accessibility and Inclusion Champions Program. Contribute to the development and maintenance of an internal webpage dedicated to accessibility and inclusion initiatives. Collaborate with User Experience, Engineering, and Culture teams to develop training materials and awareness campaigns, fostering a culture of accessibility and inclusion. Summarizing qualitative and quantitative feedback to continuously improve the program.QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in university as a full-time masters or doctoral student with an anticipated graduation date on or before the end of 2024. Authorization to work in the United States.Experience in managing documentation, stakeholder, and project timelines toward shared objectives. Communications campaign skills, including creating short written and visual content, remote and in-person outreach tactics, and campaign management.Community building and organizing skills, including team building, grassroots organizing, advocacy, and alliance building.Basic knowledge of approaches and standards used to encourage the design of more inclusive and accessible digital and physical products. Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design practices.Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience implementing programs for diversity, equity and inclusion.Previous experience working within UX, Design, or Engineering teams.Language: Fluent Spanish-language speaker.Strong written and verbal communication skills. Passion for equity, accessibility, and inclusion in health.The US base salary range for this internship position is $81,000- $103,000 + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
